Face of humility
By Felix | October 16, 2008
I stand to be corrected by the statement I am about to make, because today standing at the local terminal of Lagos airport I came face to face with the man who I’ll nominate as the face of humility, before I go into my reason for this statement, I’ll first let his profile take precedence and then let you judge.
With an estimated current net worth of around US$3.3 billion, he was ranked by Forbes as the 334th richest man in the world as of March 5, 2008, making him arguably the richest African citizen and the second richest black person, I am sure with just the first three line of this paragraph, a few of you will be able to guess who I am talking about. One more candle…
By Felix | October 14, 2008
There is a story of identical twins. One was a hope-filled optimist. “Everything is coming up roses!” The other was a said and hopeless pessimist. He thought that Murphy, as in Murphy’s Law, was an optimist. The worried parents of the boys brought them to the local psychologist.
He suggested to the parents a plan to balance the twins’ personalities. “On their next birthday, put them in separate rooms to open their gifts. It is with a deep sense of concern that I write this article, as I am shocked beyond words at what our society is becoming, even as I write this article, I question myself to see if I would have gone as far when I was on the streets and its shocking to try and think up what my answers would have been a couple of years back, because really I don’t know, but I thank God now that my values have changed or should I say now that I have seen the light, the darkness shows itself obviously to have been ignorance.
But I still ask myself if I tag it ignorance alone does it do justice to the degree of decay that is eating deep into our society?, to the extent of selling souls to the devil in wholesale. I am sure you must be wondering where I am going to with all this, but I know by the time I am done, it will seem to some like I have just narrated a script from our popular Nollywood industry. But it gets clearer the more I think about it, maybe because of my background as a street boy or merely because of common sense. Anyway whatever my understanding of it is at this moment is really Read the rest of this entry »

By Felix | October 6, 2008
Selling 001.
Whether you like it or not, you will have to learn how to sell! Selling is an important skill that is useful to whatever it is you desire to become in life. The first thing you need to do after discovering your ultimate desire is to analyse your skill requirements. Selling is a skill that is very essential. The first commodity you’ll learn to sell upon coming into the labour market, is yourself!
Knowing how to sell is crucial in getting your dream job, securing your promotion, closing a business deal, pushing your ideas or even getting a good wife. It’s so interesting that a skill of this much value is completely left out of the school curriculum. Get it straight, you need to know how to sell, then you need to go out and put it to practice.
Over time, selling had been imagined to be an art. You either had it or didn’t. People believed that being a good sales woman or man was based on temperament. The smooth talking sanguine will do better than Read the rest of this entry »
