Proudly Nigerian
By Felix | January 20, 2008
It 4minutes past 12midnite and I can’t sleep, not because I suffer from insomnia, but because I listened to one of my mentors speak in a seminar I attended yesterday, and this was not my first time in that seminar, I am actually one of the facilitators but, the way I heard him describe Nigerians made me feel very proud to be amongst the strongest black race in the world. It was rang back into my awareness that one out of every four blacks is a Nigerian and that we are a superior race not just because of our outstanding human resources, but we are also bound with natural talents, we are about the most social, culturally dynamic people in the world, a nation that has more than 300languages, is still able to co-exist as one? I’m sure you know what I am talking about. In every field of life, that a Nigerian has been a part of, you find us amongst the best, we have the likes of Oby Ezekwesili doing wonders as a Vice President in world bank today, I have a long list to back up this claim, but I’ll leave it out for now, as it’s a topic for another day. I am not going to go into our natural resources, that is one topic that I can’t possibly exhaust on this blog.
Let me tell you a story about people that have been in our position before and almost conquered the world at that time, because they came together as one voice, and had one vision. I’ll start with the story of a young boy who more or less served in the first world war, because of the part his country or race played in that war, it put an image of superiority consciousness on his being, now he so believed that his race was superior to others that he lead a revolution that has come to day to be one of the most talked about stories in the world history, he carved a niche in history, let me give you excerpts from one his speeches … “The German people and their soldiers are working and fighting today, not only for the present, but also for the coming, nay the most distant, generations. The Creator has imposed a historical revision on a unique scale upon us… ” … Adolf Hitler
Now I am not trying to celebrate Hitler nor his deeds in the second world war, but the fact that his belief got him to the extent that he and his army nearly took over the world, not because they were the strongest army, at that time, but because he was able to change their orientation and psychic into believing they were not just the strongest race, but they were superior and also history and their creator had beckoned it upon them to take their destiny’s in their hands. Now I want you to take a look at that quote and make a few adjustments and see if it can make a different meaning to you, better still let me help you… “The Nigerian people and a select group of the youth are working today, not only for the present, but also for the coming, nay the most distant, generations. The Creator has imposed a historical revision on a unique scale upon us. ”… Felix Ekpa
I don’t know how many of us have tried this exercise before, turn the African map 90degrees to the left, that makes it look like a gun and Nigeria is strategically positioned at the trigger point, some of us may call this a coincidence, but not me, I am from a different school of thought where everything that happens in this life happens for a reason and life has been designed in a such a way that everything, thought or process that takes place in ones life is a series of sequence of events that leads to an end.
Let’s focus here and not deviate from the topic, now
I write here on this topic of change today not just because I want to be a part of history in a BIG way, which I know I will, but also I am irrevocably determined to be a part of this select group who will make the Nigeria of our dreams become a reality. A New Nigeria that will be the most desirable place to live on earth, a Nigeria where everything works, a Nigeria where we can be held accountable for the well being of our great nation, where we will be our brother keeper, where the strong help the weak, and as a colleague put it, a Nigeria where we can park cars on the street with the keys in the ignition and a passerby will enter in your car not to steal it or drive it away, but to repark it because you were wrongly parked and another car might brush it while passing by, Yes you heard me well repark it for you.
Believe it or not, its achievable and its not just talk, this select group of youth exist already and we are on a bloodless revolution to course change through positive peer pressure, where by our efforts today that might look small we will be a force and a voice to reckon with, not because we are anti-government, but because with the projects of national re-orientation and national developments that we have structured we will be seen to be on course with what the government is supposed to have been doing. We are building a critical mass of 5million Nigerians who will be actively involved in nation building, and while doing this we have been able to put machinery’s on ground to make nation building a Win Win proposition, where it pays you to be interested and to be a part of national development.
We are a social network of youths who believe in the New Nigeria Dream, and we bound by clear values with which we intend to use and make this nation the most desirable place to live on earth, our values are as follows:
Problem Solvers - We are solutions to problems and not Problem Creators
Aspirational - We aspire for greatness, as individuals and as a people. We are conscious about our environment, about our nation and about the legacy we are leaving with our words and actions.
Timely - We value time and make the best of it.
Role Models - We live lives worthy of emulation.
Integrity - We say what we mean, we mean what we say, we live transparent lives.
Outstanding - We have clear areas of talent and we strive to be the best at what we are naturally good at.
Trustworthy - we can be trusted to do the right thing at all times. We live by the spirit and letter of the Law.
Impactful - We live lives that make a positive impact on the lives of others around us everywhere we go. We have the courage of our convictions.
Compassionate - A candle losses nothing by lighting up another candle. We care and show how much with our words and actions. We are our brothers’ keepers.
The acronym that makes up our values and ideals is PATRIOTIC, we want to live to make God and country Proud.
This has gone beyond the phase of it being a dream, because the revolution has started, to be a part of history in a BIG way without doing anything bizarre, log on to www.newnigeriaclub.net and take position NOW!
Peace n a fist!

I quite agree with you when you say Nigeria is a”GREAT’ nation!Just like I always tell everyone:I’m BLACK and proud, I am proud to be Nigerian. Its really refreshing to know there still exist in our generation a group of people who do believe that we can still make a change, together we can make a diference!
We just need to put more effort and realise only ”WE” can make the change and we can never achieve that by mere words and no action.
Let’s keep the New Nigerian Dream alive !

we all have to come together to make our nation proud.Motivation is everything. You can do the work of two people, but you can’t be two people. Instead, you have to inspire the next guy and get him to inspire the next. Great to be a Nigerian and we sure will get there.

There is this popular song, that is been sang, (ME I LOVE MA COUNTRY, I LOVE THE LAND AND PEOPLE EVERYTIN E DEY FOR NIGERIA, MAKE WE JOIN HAND, TO MAKE OUR COUNTRY BETTER). What else can WE ask for in a country filled with milk and honey, and the very first step we have to take towards National Development, is to form a platform that unites many voices. Whether we have the same opinion doesn’t really count, but what matters most, is creating a platform where we all execute these opinions. Me, Myself and I are very PROUD to be BLACK and a Naija FOR LIFE.
