    Uncommon Man Network

    By Felix | February 11, 2008

I’ll start by saying, my weekend was super and very eventful. I am also shocked to see that the numbers have jumped again in terms of traffic on the site, it looks like some of us did our parts in sending the link out to friends.

Yes, we were able to raise the N200,000 for the children at Heart Of Gold Hospices. The owner of the place was happy and the children almost didn’t let some of us leave the place.

I also want to say a very Big Thank You to all of us who found time to make it there on that day, you made my day and may God bless you all richly for your time and money.

On Sunday, I made it again to the Jungle City where the big animals live or should I say to spend time with the people of the Uncommon Man Network (Gold In The Slum). I had a speaking engagement with youths from the ghetto again this weekend and it was fulfilling to see how they came out en-masse to acquire knowledge on how to better themselves and add value to the society. To broaden this a little, let me start with a story…

There was an old lady who had 3sons, they all loved her dearly. On her 80th birthday, her sons decided to each give her an outstanding gift.

First son, he bought her a car worth $50,000, now this car had all the works, lovely interior, keyless entry, voice automated, as in you can start this car by just saying Mercedes start and the engine will be fired up, it was a beauty to behold.

Second son, he bought her a mansion worth $100,000 with 20bedroom and 5 sitting rooms, a state of the art house with all the works, a big swimming pool and all, the house was a beauty also.

The third son, knowing that the mother loves reading the bible and because she was getting old and her sight was impaired, he bought her a parrot that had been sent to the seminary for about 7years, this parrot could read the bible in English and Hebrew, it will read in Hebrew and translate word for word and also explain the origin of the words, it was a very brilliant parrot, all you had to do was quote the verse you wanted or the book in the bible you wanted to hear and it will read it. This parrot was worth $150,000.

The old woman received the 3 gifts and decided to write her sons. To the first she said… my son, the car you sent me for my birthday is beautiful, but at my age, where will I be driving to , I appreciate it and I know you sent it to me with the love in your heart. Thank you very much.

To the second son, she said… my son the mansion you bought me is very big and beautiful, but since I leave alone, I can only sleep in one room at a time, and I am really concerned about how this house will be kept clean, at my age I will not be able to keep the house clean. , I appreciate it and I know you sent it to me with the love in your heart. Thank you very much.

To the third son, she said … my son your gift I truly enjoyed the most, I know you have your mother at heart all the time, the chicken you sent me was very delicious. Thank you very much.

Now, before we laugh and miss the point here, the moral of this story is simple… No matter your age and time spent in this world, we all need direction!

Direction, this is what the Uncommon Man Network is about, giving the youths of ajegunle (the Gold In The Slum), direction on the key principles of life and how to become of value to themselves and the society in general and I will once again give kudos to the man who started this worthy course his name is Praise Fowowe, God bless you my brother.

I have decided to partner with this initiative and anyone who is interested, can indicate interest here, no matter how little it is, we can all add value, examples of the things we can do with them or for them are:

Mentoring, Scholarships, Sponsorships and general contribution in cash or in kind to the whole initiative. For example we have people who are willing to train some of them on things like basic computer acquisition skills, bead making and e.t.c. Some of the courses or trainings will need to be sponsored and we are already getting them at incredible discounts, so we need some people to stand up to this call of add value to the society. For more on this you can check www.ajegunle.blogspot.com, www.praisefowowe.org

Before this starts sounding like a charity blog or a collection center… I’ll continue with my story again from tomorrow, so let’s stay tuned as more twists get into the tale. For those of us visiting for the first time, take out time to read the following posts, in the order I’ll put them out, so you can understand the full gist of the story when I continue, it starts from Bang bang, Jack Robinson, Jungle justice, jungle jury. These are the 4 I have written on my story, will continue from here tomorrow.

    Peace N a Fist!

If you can’t fly, run. If you can’t run, walk, but please keep moving,IT ONLY TAKES YOUR VISION AND ACTION TO BECOME A REALITY. This piece is not about felix, it’s about us, you and me. Let’s pause

for a moment and put our selves in their shoes, did I hear God forbid? with a little help we can make a difference, we should all know dt we could turn some ones dream into a reality.Givers never lack.

We all need encouragement atimes to push further,Nobody trips over mountains. It is the small pebble that causes you to stumble. Pass all the pebbles in your path and you will find you have crossed the mountain.

      Dear Felix
We must let you know that you have sparked an unusual fire in Ajegunle and the people will never remain the same. All they did yesterday was to talk about you and some of them said to me that they would rather come and be cleaning the toilets at Generis solution and get their lives better and on the right track than sit in Ajegunle doing nothing. as at yesterday about 3 of them have told me of how they would start frying Akara(bean cake)
thanks my brother. The site is http://www.ajegunlelive.blogspot.com
love you sir and thanks for your impact.
      Praise
