    You are not Alone!

    By Felix | June 25, 2008

not-alone2.jpgWhen people see achievers in certain sectors, they assume all is well with the person, but truth is we shouldn’t hurry into the conclusion that since someone is successful financial or otherwise, automatically other sectors of that person’s life is going great too… Wrong!

I remember when I used to say it too, I wish I was like him, or I wish I had his parents and stuff like that, but it dawned on me recently, when someone made a remark about wanting or should I say wishing to be me, and I didn’t know how to explain to him that as much as it is looking all well outside, there are some areas in his life that also makes me feel like being like him too.

As the fact clearly is, Life is a middle game, you can’t possibly be the best in every part or area of life, we all have weaknesses and areas that need building or developing to get into perfection, as really there is no one who is perfect.

There are a few areas of my life I have a very good grip on and certain areas where I also have weaknesses, today I had a long talk with my mentor and some things were revealed to me during the discussion that has gotten me thinking, am I doing enough or making deliberate steps to overcome these issues or am I just accepting it and doing nothing about it, we argued it out and when I told him the steps I am taking and how far I have gone in tackling these things. After listening to me for a while, he said something that got me into writing this post.

Some of the weaknesses we have or some of the things that affect any area of our lives, are better put in the hands of God, that it really will take his grace for these issues to be tackled, now don’t get this wrong as he wasn’t saying pray to God and fold your hands, he was merely letting me know that as much as my efforts are good and applaud able, some issues in life needs God’s grace to be taken care of, that if we could only tap into this grace, the journey will become much easier.

It’s just like the children of Israel, when they left the land of Egypt to Canaan, the journey that takes about 11days took them a period of 40years, yes you heard me right, from Egypt to Israel, does not take 40 years, yet they spent forty years in the wilderness matching to the land of promise. Now along the way they came upon a certain mountain that they kept roaming around, for many years before God told them, that they had encamped around that mountain long enough, and it was time to move forward. They decided to send in 12 spies to go and take a look at what Canaan looked like. Out of the 12 of them, 10 came back with negative reports –“We looked like grasshoppers in their eyes, they are giants, the land destroys people, it is impossible e.t.c.”  Only 2 came back with possibilities and the faith that God had delivered the land into their hands. Amongst all the children of Israel, only these 2 and those below the age of 20 at the time, made it into the Promised Land.

Anyway, before I turn this into a bible story blog, I’ll just let you read from this other story of how the Indians get their boys to become men and it might shed more light on the point I trying to bring out here.

    Enjoy…

His father takes him into the forest, blindfolds him and leaves him alone. He is required to sit on a stump the whole night and not remove the blindfold until the rays of the morning sun shine through it. He cannot cry out for help to anyone. Once he survives the night, he is a MAN.

He cannot tell the other boys of this experience because each lad must come into manhood on his own. The boy is naturally terrified. He can hear all kinds of noises.  Wild beasts must surely be all around him. Maybe even some human might do him harm.

The wind blew the grass and earth, and shook his stump, but he sat stoically, never removing the blindfold. It would be the only way he could become a man!

Finally, after a horrific night, the sun appeared and he removed his blindfold. It was then that he discovered his father sitting on the stump next to him. He had been at watch the entire night, protecting his son from harm.

We too, are never alone. Even when we don’t know it, our Heavenly Father is watching over us sitting on the stump beside us. When trouble comes, all we have to do is reach out to Him.

It’s not in all situations that our strengths and discipline can achieve, these issues can be anything from waking up early, to series of bad relationships, or marital problems, or poor financial management know how, you name it, where its seems all hopes has been lost and you have done your bit and still isn’t working, sometimes, all we have to do is reach out and tap into His grace.

good one again!!! I agree with you on not hurrying into the conclusion that since someone is successful financial or otherwise, automatically other sectors of that person’s life is going great. There are so much dirt swept under the carpet of some of the pple we tend to worship. Nice story. I learnt
